Our Lady of Aokpe

Visitations of Our Lady Mediatrix of All Graces

Consecration of the Chapel

Once a remote village, Aokpe is now an International Pilgrimage Centre. It all began in 1992, when  a young village girl named Christiana Agbo had a visit from a beautiful Lady. It was on the 4th August 1994, that this beautiful Lady made herself known as ''Mediatrix of All Graces''. From that time onwards, this day became known as the ''Day of Grace'', which is preceded each year by a nine day Novena which runs from the 26th July - 3rd August. The Public Visitations of Our Lady Mediatrix of All Graces ended in 2004. During that period Our Lady gave many powerful messages regarding prayers and penance:

January 13 1996 ''It is through suffering and prayer that you will win many souls back to Jesus. It is through genuine love of God that you will win the lost souls back to the Eternal Father''.

January 26 1996 ''Avoid sin pray and do lots of penance, remove the thorns surrounding the Sacred Head of Jesus. Pray most especially for the souls the devil has captured''.

Our Lady said: ''Through the Rosary I am your source of consolation''.

His Lordship Bishop Michael Apochi Consecrated and Dedicated the Chapel, marking the beginning of the Silver Jubilee celebration. In his homily, Bishop Apochi spoke about the spirituality of Aokpe, with emphasis on the Holy Sacraifice of the Mass and Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament. He instructed all pilgrims to put Jesus at the center  of their pilgrimage experience and not just collect souveniers and Holy Water. He encouraged all Pilgrims to spend more time with Jesus in the Chapel.
